Evaluation Part II

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Audience Feedback - Music Magazine

1. Who are the audience? Are they the group you initially targeted?

My target audience was male and female around the age of 16-30.

Comment from students;
Hadley: Your magazine mainly looks like it’s aimed at females as it consists of female artists throughout the magazine and doesn’t have any male artist

Divine: Your magazine is dominated my female artists, which are very attractive which could suggest your magazine is aimed at both male and female.

Sibel: Your magazine audience looks it was intended for female audiences as it includes a lot of female artist and the main front cover is dominated by a female artist.

2.What do you think about the layout of my front cover?

Jasmine: The layout of your front cover is very good as it follows the entire convections. Also the layout used for the masthead is very good as it makes the image stand out more which will attract more audience

Anisha: The layout of your magazine is very good as it doesn’t look busy neither does it look simple which makes it easier for people to read. Also the main cover line is different as it’s bigger than the other text

 3. What do you think about the layout of the content and double page spread?

Manciej:  the layout of the content page is good as it uses various pictures and consists of features and regulars, but if you used more pictures it would make the content page more interesting. The double page spread layout is good as it has columns to separate the questions and answers which makes it easier to read. The use of pictures is very good as it consists of more than three images

Jasmine: The layout of the content page is good but it would have used a different layout as it looks very simple. The layout of the DPS is good as it has different types of camera shots. And the masthead stands out very clear which is another good factor

4.What do you think about the colour scheme of my magazine?

Hadley: The colour scheme is good as it is consist thought-out the magazine which makes it very sophisticated and easy to read through

Divine: The colour is good as it compliments each other; the use of the same colour makes it more interesting. The use of white, grey and burgundy makes the magazine stand out

 5. Who are the audience in terms of gender and social class?

Anisha : females around 17-25 – middle class
Divine: male and female – no particular class
Hadley: 16-27- either middle class or working class

 6. What would be improved?

Divine: overall the magazine was good as it was done in a good standard, but the good have used more pictures on the content page and maybe changed the colour scheme to make it less simple

Hadley: you would have changed the background colour to a brighter colour; the main cover line would have been made smaller

Jasmine:  You would have used more pull quotes on the front cover, more images on the content page and used more male artists as it looks like the magazine was only aimed at females

 7. Looking back at feedback you received from the college magazine, how do you feel your technical and creative skills have developed?

When i stated using inDesign and Photoshop i didn’t know how to use most of the tools which made it more complicated for me I think my skills have improved dues to more practise, i now feel more confident using both software’s.
